Greener solution to Offset Carbon
Welcome to a Greener solution to Offset Carbon footprint. The future of cleaning with Toucan Eco. Our natural products are designed to create a eco-friendly environment and sustainable future, paving the way forward.
A Greener Solution. The wonder-water created by Toucan Eco is green, clean and very mean – to nasty bacteria, viruses and germs, that is. The secret power of salt, water and a clever bit of science is trusted by industries all over the world. Now it’s available on demand in your home and workplace with a little help from Toucan Eco.
Compact and easy to use, it puts the power of electrochemically activated water at your fingertips. No chemicals, no single use plastic bottles. No damage to the environment. Just a proven, effective way to wipe out germs without harming the environment.
Greener solution to carbon offset
Many companies use terms like eco-friendly, green, and sustainable without clear definitions. This can be misleading or false.
Centrego and Food Diagnostics wanted to quantify their products’ environmental credentials. This helps clients analyze the impact and benefits of using our systems.
The best way to measure environmental impact is by calculating the carbon footprint over a product’s lifespan. We commissioned Force Technology to audit the carbon footprint of our Toucan Active Plus product.
Centrego’s ECA systems generate cleaning solutions on-site. Calculating the carbon footprint involves two elements: CO2 from manufacturing the systems and CO2 from producing 1 liter of activated solution.
Calculating a product’s carbon footprint is detailed. Every component’s carbon footprint is calculated, including transport and assembly energy. This quantifies the global warming potential in CO2-eq units.
Generating 1 liter of solution involves energy for producing and transporting salt, water, and activation power. Over the system’s lifetime, the aggregated CO2 emissions are 10.5 g CO2-eq, and for diluted solution, 3.50 g CO2-eq.
Running a laptop for 1 hour produces the same CO2 as generating 8.8 liters of ECA solution. Boiling a kettle equals generating 5 liters of ECA solution. These figures allow comparison with synthetic chemicals.
Synthetic chemicals have a CO2-heavy process, repeated for every delivery and waste collection. Quantifying our product’s impact provides a benchmark for other alternatives.
Centrego’s ECA systems use natural, sustainable inputs like water and salt, emitting low CO2 levels. Only small electric power is needed for activation. There are no ongoing transport emissions or packaging disposal.
Centrego ECA systems are not carbon zero but have a much smaller environmental impact compared to synthetic chemicals and their packaging disposal.
Science inspired by our own immune system
What Australia needs to know about hypochlorous acid?Toucan Eco’s technology is inspired by one of the most powerful microorganism repellent systems around: the human body.
When we come under attack from invading bacteria and viruses, our immune system responds by sending white blood cells called neutrophils straight to the infection.
Once activated, these cells produce the same hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a potent and naturally occurring disinfectant.
The same effect is now available on demand, in your home.
Get ready for the science bit.
At the positive anode, the hydrogen and oxygen in the water reacts with the chlorine in the salt to make hypochlorous acid.
At the negative cathode, the sodium and chlorine in the salt combines with the oxygen in the water to produce a low concentration of sodium hypochlorite (NaClO).
But all you really to know is that it produces one of safest, most effective disinfectants and cleaning solutions around, from just water and salt.
- Kills more than 99.999% of germs
- Quick action that also has a residual effect and keeps on working if left on surfaces
- Safe and hypoallergenic solution that’s 99.999% water
- Proven to work against E. coli, MRSA and Listeria and Coronavirus
- Reduces chemical and plastic waster while saving money
A clever idea that’s been around since 1834
That’s when Michael Faraday published his findings on the principles of electrolysis observing that an electric current passed through a substance produced chemical changes. Cut to the 1970’s and a Russian scientist called Professor Vitold Bakhir added salt to this process to create a brand-new solution, one that was found to have powerful disinfectant properties.
This was to develop a solution to combat the effects of biological warfare quickly and easily for use on people, animals, equipment, crops and water supplies. With developments in technology, smaller devices can now make the solution on demand and onsite.
